The Optima by Hatsan Barrage 5.5 mm features a futuristic polymer stock design. The ergonomic chassis includes a designated pistol grip, a symmetrical thumb-hole stock, and two compartments for carrying extra magazines. Both the pistol grip and the fore-end are equipped with anti-slip texturing, providing maximum control over the rifle. The rifle is outfitted with two Picatinny rails for optics and bipod installation, as well as attachment points for a sling. The stock can be tailored to the shooter's physique and preferences with its adjustable buttstock and cheek piece, allowing for length and position adjustments based on the optical sight's mounting height.

The rifle is equipped with a precision rifled barrel measuring 500 mm, finished with a choke that enhances pellet stability and sealing within the barrel. A protective aluminum sleeve, anodized for durability, safeguards the floating barrel from damage. The Optima by Hatsan Barrage utilizes a fixed 500 cc air cylinder, allowing for approximately 120 shots when fully charged.
